Ele works closely with clients to create scale models of their homes, or buildings that hold a special place in their hearts.
Previous commissions have included striking country houses, elegant churches and beautiful thatched cottages (please see bottom of this page for some examples or alternatively an online portfolio can be found here). The models can be made from any books or documents that are sentimental to the client, such as hymn books, poetry, story books, guide books, sheet music, wedding certificates and vintage or OS maps. Copies of these documents are often used, if the originals are too valuable or special.

Each piece is measured, cut and put together by hand at her home studio in Somerset. Ele chooses the pages she uses very carefully, ensuring the words that can be read on each piece resonate with the house and the people that have lived there. The location of a house can often be found on a map that has been used to make a piece, plus other places that have a special connection to her clients, such as where a couple met or had their wedding. Important phrases or references from favourite books and songs can be seen on the side or roof of a building, bringing a unique, sentimental quality to each piece.
Ele ensures all the special details, such as important trees and sometimes even family pets are included. Every window frame and doorway are individually hand cut and chimney-stacks are all hand-rolled.
The finished models are then lit from within by tiny, battery powered LED lights and set in deep bespoke box frames, with the switch accessible on the side of the frame, so they can be turned on and off when sat on a book shelf or console.
Each bespoke piece makes a unique and special gift: a magical little scene captured behind glass, which have previously been given as memorable birthday, anniversary, christening and wedding presents.
